A former senior executive is blaming his current job and losing his house for his depression.
It all started when he was fired from his job in 2015, and his wife, who has a Masters in business administration, left him.
He’s now looking for work.
He says the only reason he could find work was because of his mental health issues.
“I was in a situation where I was working with the government in which I was in charge of a department that was really important to the government,” he said.
It’s all because of my mental health.
I had to make some decisions and I had to decide if I was going to continue to be employed.
The executive says he was forced to resign in May because he felt he wasn’t doing enough.
“It was just one of those situations where it just felt like I was being thrown in the back of a truck.”
The decision to quit was a huge decision for me, but the reason for it was because I was struggling with my mental illness.
“He says he went from being able to work for the government to being without a job, so it was no surprise when he went on antidepressants in August.”
I wasn’t happy at the time, but I know now I was.
It wasn’t something I could have expected to go through in my career.
So it’s been difficult for me personally, but it’s definitely been a struggle for my family,” he told the BBC.”
My wife is now in a really supportive environment, and she’s had a lot of support from the community.
“He said he was happy with the work he was doing, and it wasn’t easy.”
At the end of the day, I’m happy that I’m still working, and I’m really proud of the work that I do,” he added.
Mr Wirth is still looking for a job but is hoping for a promotion.
